without urgent heart surgery my zahiya wont survive
While striving towards our mission to serve the children with medical illnesses we came encountered with a 9 year old "Zahiya" who is leading a stressful life due to Hypoplastic left Heart syndrome it is a birth defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart. As the baby develops during pregnancy, the left side of the heart does not form correctly. In normal words in Zahiya's case the left side of the heart is not fully developed and do not pump blood.
Every morning, I go to the mosque and pray to Allah to rescue my daughter of her immense pain and give her a new life far from the sufferings. Allah miyan sajde me sabki dua kabool karte hain (Allah grants wishes if you kneel and pray), but I don't know why he is not listening to me.- Zakir ( Father of Zahiya).
I still get chills when I recall the day that changed our lives forever.
I had just gotten home from work when I saw Aliya crying and screaming. She was only 2 months old then. I thought she might be hungry, but when I picked Aliya up in my arms, her tiny body was burning with fever.
I panicked and rushed her to the hospital where she was prescribed medicine, but her fever didn’t subside for days. Instead, her temperature just kept rising.
We became worried and even though we tried multiple home remedies along with the medication, nothing was working. That’s when we took her to the hospital where she underwent numerous tests.
After a few hours, we were told that she is suffering from Hypoplastic left heart syndrom and her heart is not fully developed.
We were shocked. I still remember that my wife, didn't eat for days after that. She just kept crying and praying to Allah to heal our child. Looking at her inconsolable state, even zahiya would start crying.It was heartbreaking to see them in such a state. I didn’t know why we were being punished so much.
We rushed to AIIMS where doctors told us that zahiya needs an open heart surgery which will cost Rs. 1.20 Lacs. I am working as a daily labourer and for me arranging 1.20 lacs is immpossible task. Please help me with a open heart aand without your support i will not be ble to save life of my only child. Dil Se Mehek came forward and trying to support zahiya's father.
