The Problem

India with a population of 1.21 billion population stand at the second position as the most populous country in the world after China. India comprises almost 13.1 per cent of child population aged 0-6 years. Children of today are tomorrow’s citizens; hence it is very necessary to provide better health care & education facilities to them. In India the number of under-5 mortality rate and infant mortality rates are 49 and 42, respectively. Only 66% per cent of the Indian people are literate (76% of men and 54% of women). While close to 90 per cent children in the 6-11 age group are formally enrolled in primary schools, nearly 40 per cent drop out at the primary stage. Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one’s awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one’s rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen. Children of today are tomorrow’s citizen, thus it is extremely important to strengthen the foundation of our country. The first six years of life constitutes the most crucial span in life. At this stage if life, the foundation are laid for mental, physical and social development. Children are the assets for tomorrow’s productivity. The growth of any country is depending on the availability of healthy human resource. As children represent the future generation, thus makes them healthy & educative is of crucial importance.
