This 5-Year-old Was Born With A Heart Defect That Might End His Life
Dil Se Mehek is raising funds for the 5 year son of a daily labourer. The child since from the birth faced difficulity in breathing and end up in hospital for oxygen support. The family belongs to the far flung village of Rajasthan with no advance medical facilities. The local doctor at his village refereed the child to AIIMS for the proper treatment. The family took loan and came to consult doctors at AIIMS where the child diagnosed with a deadly heart defect called Ventricular Septal Defect.

What is Congenital Heart Disease?
Congenital heart disease is a problem in the structure of the heart that is present at birth. If not treated at an early stage, it can prove to be quite dangerous and life-threatening as well.
He was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect where he had a coarctation of the aorta (where the aorta, a major blood vessel carrying blood from the heart to the rest of the body, is narrow) and a large VSD (hole in the heart causing mixing of blood).
Badal has been asked to urgently undergo an Open heart surgery in order to treat his condition at the earliest. As AIIMS is a government entity thus cost of treatment is very low as compared to other private hospitals. The child for his survival needs only 57000 Rs.
Raju could not have asked for more when their son was born. He was on cloud nine right from the day he came home, but things turned around very soon. Badal was just 1-month-old when he began having trouble breathing.
“I could see his nostrils flaring. It was as if he was trying to get all the air in the room. I was watching my son suffocating. I rushed to the local doctor at my village. The doctor stable the condition by giving oxygen support to my son. He said that my son needs a consulation from a big hospital in any metro city unfortunately, no hospital in his city was equipped to perform the surgery. We were referred to AIIMS Delhi.”
Raju works a daily laborer on construction sites. His income depends on the availbilty work at his village.
Unfortunately, Badal's father, Raju, do not have a monthly income. The child got a date of surgery at AIIMS in Aprill,2020 but in the unavailibilty of funds he was not able to treat his son.
