Dil Se Mehek is raising funds for 10-year-old child, Mayank, who is suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and needs urgent treatment. His father is a poor farmer and cannot afford to pay for his treatment anymore. In the last week of December 2023, Mayank fell severely ill. He lost his appetite, started having fever frequently and developed a huge ulcer on his lip. So his parents rushed him to the hospital where the doctors started his treatment. The treatment didn’t seem to be working and, in the second week of January, he started puking blood. The doctors couldn’t figure out what was making him sick but they tried their best and changed the course of treatment. They started him on painful blood transfusions as well. This went on for 5 months but his health kept getting worse. He vomited whatever he ate for a month straight so the doctors asked his parents to get a second consultation. The second doctor ran a few tests and the results revealed that young Mayank was suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, a type of deadly blood cancer whose treatment was too expensive for them so they brought him to Delhi, AIIMS where treatment is comparitively low cost as per other private hospitals in India.
They admitted Mayank to AIIMS, where he is currently getting treatment. Since they belong to the BPL family, they are eligible for the Ayushman Bharat Program but that will only cover Rs 50-55 Thousand in medical bills and the hospital has estimated the expenses to be around Rs 7 Lakh. Mayank's father already spent Rs 4-5 Lakhs by selling his farm land. He is living on rent in Delhi as mayank is undergoing Chemotherapy in AIIMS. The bed charges are free but the medicines , injectitions, test are chargable.
Mayank’s family belongs to a below-poverty-line family. His father is a farmer and earns just enough to meet the basic needs of his family. A few years ago, his father suffered from a serious medical condition following which his wife, also fell severely ill. He sold part of his land & used a huge part of whatever little savings they had to pay for both of their treatments. Then, in the 5 months leading to the cancer diagnosis when Mayank was being treated, they spent approx Rs 5 Lakh on the treatment by selling his land and by taking loans from their relatives. They are very close to losing all hope as they know they will never be able to afford their only son’s life-saving treatment.
Mayank’s father’s farming has also suffered a huge loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown. They are struggling to meet basic needs.
Please find it in your heart to donate however much you can for Mayank’s life-saving treatment. Every bit .... In case you wish to speak to the father and support please contact Mr Gautam @ 8447696330
