Gift a Smile to little Indu
Dil Se Mehek came encountered with 4 year old baby girl called Indu. She was a born fighter as she had a large hole in her heart at the time of birth. She bravely fought and successfully underwent a heart surgery. She is a naughty and playful- just like any child of her age. Except one visible difference, Indu was born with Cleft lip & Cleft Palate.
Cleft lip and cleft palate are openings or splits in the upper lip, the roof of the mouth (palate) or both. Cleft lip and cleft palate result when facial structures that are developing in an unborn baby don't close completely. Cleft lip and cleft palate are among the most common birth defects. They most commonly occur as isolated birth defects but are also associated with many inherited genetic conditions or syndromes. Having a baby born with a cleft can be upsetting, but cleft lip and cleft palate can be corrected. In most babies, a series of surgeries can restore normal function and achieve a more normal appearance with minimal scarring.
Due to the defect, Indu facing:-
- Difficulty with feedings
- Difficulty swallowing, with potential for liquids or foods to come out the nose
- Nasal speaking voice
- Reoccuring ear infections
Indu's father worked as a delivery boy in Amazon and earns only Rs. 16 for one parcel delivery. By working hard throughout the day, her father (Vinod) manages to earn between 10-15k a month. Since from birth Indu is suffering with pain. Her parents faced discrimination in the society. But they are strongly fighting for their daughter as according to them, its a blessing of MATA Rani. They were overjoyed to know that their little bundle of Joy can have a normal smile and can speak, eat , drink like a normal child of her age. For the first corrective surgery, the family is in need of Rs.50,000. The family is unable to arrange money for the treatment. The surgery will help to restore the smile of the little angel.
