At Dil Se Mehek, we meet many families — each one fighting silent battles, each one holding on to hope. But some stories touch us so deeply that we feel compelled to act, to speak out, to ask for help from the world.

Arpita’s story is one of them. She’s only 12 years old.A quiet, sweet-natured child who used to draw flowers and birds, who loved going to school and listening to stories. But now, her days are filled with hospital visits, breathlessness, and unanswered questions. Arpita has been diagnosed with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) — a hole in the wall between the two upper chambers of her heart. This condition is slowly weakening her body, draining her energy, and putting her young life at risk. Her doctors at AIIMS, New Delhi, have been kind and clear. She needs an ASD device closure — a minimally invasive procedure that can close the hole in her heart and allow her to live a full, healthy life. The surgery is safe. The outcome is promising.

Arpita’s father, Inderjeet, works as a daily wage labourer. Each rupee he earns comes from hours of hard physical labour, yet it’s never enough. Their family lives with dignity, but they have no savings, no assets, no safety net. What they do have is love — and fear. Fear that they might lose their daughter simply because they were born into poverty.

This is not just a medical emergency. This is a crisis of hope. Imagine being a parent and knowing that your child’s life can be saved, but only if you can come up with money you don’t have. No parent should ever have to choose between poverty and their child’s life.

But the cost is ₹46,000 — and that is a wall her family cannot climb.Arpita’s father, Inderjeet, works as a labourer. His hands are rough from carrying bricks, his back bent from years of hard work. He earns barely enough to feed his family. Despite his tireless efforts, the cost of the surgery is out of reach. He has sold everything he could. Borrowed from friends. Stood in long queues for help. And now, with tears in his eyes, he has come to us.And now, we come to you.

🙏 This is not just a medical case. This is a little girl’s life. This is a father’s heartache. This is a chance to do something truly meaningful.
