In the last week of July 2026, relentless floods swept across Upper Assam, affecting more than 3.32 lakh people across over 622 villages in Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat, Jorhat and nearby districts. What began as heavy rainfall quickly turned into a humanitarian crisis, leaving families struggling to protect their loved ones and survive another day.

Homes have been submerged or washed away. Farmlands and crops have been destroyed. Livestock have been lost. Families who spent years building their homes and livelihoods have seen everything disappear within hours.

For many parents, the biggest concern is no longer tomorrow—it is finding enough food for their children today. Children are sleeping in unsafe conditions. Elderly people are struggling to access medicines and healthcare. Families are desperately seeking clean drinking water, food, clothing and basic hygiene supplies.
